Wishing and hoping is not a strategy and a promising career can be over before it starts as 99% of parents of beginners end up making one career killing mistake after another without even realizing it.
What about getting advice from other models and/or their parents? Most of them have no idea what they're doing either and the few that do will see you as competition and either brush you off or deliberately mislead you.
What about self submitting to agencies by email and hoping for the best?
First and foremost, all agencies are going to tell you what's in their best interests, not yours. And REAL agencies find the vast majority of their models through a small cadre of industry insiders that include model scouts, photographers, makeup artists, stylists, etc. so email submissions that come in from the general public may as well go directly into a trash can as the vast majority of submissions that come in that way typically contain overly retouched, overly styled, outdated and/or amateur looking snapshots that would be a complete waste of time for real agents to look at.
Additionally, mid level to top tier real agencies receive anywhere from 1000 to 5000 email submissions PER DAY so self submitted email submissions seldom if ever get seen by heads of divisions or agency owners and mass deletions of email submissions are very common because real agencies don’t have time to wade through them all.
Why is this? A mid level agency that receives receives 1000 email submissions per day would need to hire at least two people to work 10 hours a day, 7 days a week just to look at each submission for 1 minute per submission and they would have to be minimum wage, inexperienced people - that have no idea what they are doing - in order to keep agency labor costs down so, of course, agencies can not and will not hire people to do this.
So don’t be surprised if you don’t get replies to self submitted email submissions from real agencies even with good photos. And the vast majority of agencies that DO reply to email submissions are fake agencies that are selling worthless photos, training, classes, etc. so to them email submissions are a sales lead.
The good news? There are easy ways to avoid fake agencies altogether and there are easy ways to submit to REAL agencies only in such a way that you WILL be seen and we will be more than happy to walk you through it.
